Caribbean Tourism Development Company in search for new PR firm
ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Antigua’s Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Harold Lovell, heads to New York where he will chair the selection process of a firm to provide public relations services to the Caribbean Tourism Development Company (CTDC).
The CTDC is a marketing and business development unit which is owned equally by the members of the Caribbean Hotels Association (CHA) and the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO).
Its purpose is to promote, protect and enhance the Caribbean brand of tourism, to engage in business activities that benefit its stakeholders and to foster sustainable tourism development for the Caribbean.
Minister Lovell, who is First Vice-Chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization, Chairman of the CTO Marketing Committee, and a Director of the CTDC, expressed his reluctance to be away from Antigua at this time right in the middle of the 50th Anniversary celebrations of Carnival, but said he is mindful of the importance of selecting a reputable firm which will have the responsibility of providing good public relations services for the CTDC.
According to Minister Lovell, the services required will include the staging of a series of events aimed at substantially increasing the public’s awareness of the Caribbean as the world’s premier, warm weather tourism destinations.
These events which are scheduled to occur later this year, and throughout 2008, will be geared towards generating significant amounts of positive media publicity for the Caribbean, creating opportunities for the sale of Caribbean vacations, providing opportunities for the owners, clients and strategic partners of CTDC to promote and sell their products and services, and generating revenue.
“While I have a great responsibility as a director of the CTDC to oversee the selection process,” says Minister Lovell, “I am also very much a part of the 50th Anniversary of Carnival celebrations. With the fantastic start that we have had to the festivities, every event promises to be a momentous one, and I don’t want to miss out on any of the other shows.”
