Caribbean Star and Air Jamaica come to agreement

KINGSTON, Jamaica – An agreement between Caribbean Star and Air Jamaica to improve regional air transportation includes adjustments in Caribbean Star’s flight schedules to better coincide with Air Jamaica service to/from Barbados and Grenada.

Also, fares will be lowered for Caribbean Star passengers in Antigua, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Trinidad & Tobago who are connecting to Air Jamaica flights to Jamaica and 11 North American gateways.

Mike Conway, Air Jamaica’s CEO, said that “the partnership demonstrates that by working more closely together, Caribbean airlines can better compete in the marketplace by offering more choices and better schedules.”

Skip Barnette, president and CEO of Caribbean Star and sister airline, Caribbean Sun, challenged critics “who don’t think Caribbean carriers can work together for the good of the traveling public” to “think again. We’re 100% committed to providing the best air transportation services to our customers, and we’re pleased to have Air Jamaica as a partner,” he said. (Travel Weekly News 8-2-06)
