Caribbean Shipping Co. Offers Reduced Rates For Holiday Season

West Palm Beach – Laparkan Shipping has announced plans to offer specially reduced rates for the shipment of barrels and other personal effects to the Caribbean for the holiday season. This is an initiative being taken to help ensure that families in the region receive their customary holiday “care packages” in spite of the current difficult economic conditions.

This announcement was made on Saturday (October 31) by Laparkan’s Senior Vice President Mr. Shridat Naraine during his address at a customer appreciation reception at the Laparkan office and warehouse in West Palm Beach, Florida. These special holiday rates are in addition to the $25.00 economy box and the flat rate box which were introduced earlier this year to provide Caribbean Americans in the Diaspora affordable options for continuing to support their relatives back home despite the current economic recession.

Mr. Naraine told the gathering that Laparkan, which has been a model corporate citizen for the more than 25 years of its existence, “is once again demonstrating its commitment to its customers and the Caribbean American communities in the Diaspora by taking an initiative which will allow people here to send barrels and packages to their relatives back home.”

This initiative comes as several Caribbean governments including Antigua and Barbuda and St. Lucia have announced plans to offer relief to their citizens receiving barrels from relatives abroad for the holiday season through reduced custom duties. Both these countries have introduced the “dollar barrel” program under which one dollar customs duty is charged for a barrel containing personal effects. This program will run from November 15 to December 31.

Among the guests at the customer appreciation day was Dan Liftman, Staff Assistant to US Congressman Alcee Hastings who in his remarks welcomed Laparkan’s presence in West Palm Beach and congratulated the company for its record as a responsible corporate citizen of Florida. Also addressing guests at the event were Laparkan’s Vice President of the South east Region in the US, Maureen Singh.

The Laparkan office/warehouse is located at 4440 South Tiffany Drive, Suite 3, Mangonia Park, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407. The telephone number is (561)494-2898. The office is operated by Paulette Alexander and Christine Blair.

Laparkan also has offices in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando, Florida.
