Caribbean carrier consortium awarded TOMS movement

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Air Jamaica, BWIA West Indies Airways Ltd, Caribbean Star and LIAT are pleased with the announcement that the joint bid for the transportation of the TOMS (Teams, Officials, Media and Sponsors) for CWC 2007 (Cricket World Cup2007) has been accepted by ICC/CWC. The airlines look forward to finalizing the contractual details and moving forward with this exciting and challenging project.

This historic initiative marks the first time that a true collaborative effort will be undertaken by a consortium of carriers within the Caribbean region. The support of CWC 2007 by the carriers will be called the Caribbean Carrier Consortium (CCC), and promises to be the best possible air service to meet the unique needs of the ICC/CWC 2007 organizers. It is envisaged that Air Jamaica and BWIA will support the long haul, heavy demand segments, and Caribbean Star and LIAT will support the shorter haul inter-island flights.

“This is a fabulous opportunity for Air Jamaica to demonstrate our can do attitude and introduce our outstanding brand of service to the many travelers who will be flying with us for the first time,” stated Mike Conway, President & CEO of Air Jamaica. He concluded, “We now have at hand a major and official role to ensure that this world-class event is a success!”
