Wright Muir has been motivated to serve as a City Commissioner in Sunrise because she feels the local government can better serve residents. Wright Muir represents more of the positive social evolution and political awareness that has gained momentum recently. The young, driven attorney has a vision of a city where the residents are engaged and involved and are more able to connect with resources available to them through the city.

At this early stage Wright Muir has already been endorsed by a number of leaders in the community including: State Representative Perry Thurston, Jr.; West Park Mayor and Vice Mayor Eric Jones and Thomas Dorsett; Lauderhill Commissioners, Dale Holness and Hayward Benson; Miramar Commissioner, Winston Barnes; Miami Gardens Councilman, André Williams; West Park Commissioner, Rita Mack; Sunrise community activist, Jasmin Barnaby, the Jamaican-American Bar Association and the T.J. Reddick Bar Association.

Wright Muir is married and is the mother of two sons who attend public school in Sunrise. One of her main concerns is the current state of public schools in the city particularly at the high school level. She recently founded a program, the “Law & Politics Speaker Series at Piper High School” to inform and inspire students. Bringing about substantive changes in the Sunrise school system is a priority for Wright Muir who is committed to the highest standards of education for all students.

Wright Muir will work to preserve and support homeownership, establish partnerships to improve city schools, enhance existing senior services, ensure that the City Charter reflects the views of the residents and initiate improvements to the Sunrise neighborhoods in need.
