DEERFIELD BEACH – JM Family Enterprises, Inc. (JMFE) Founder and Honorary Chairman Jim Moran has announced the 2006 African-American Achievers honorees. The five distinguished individuals, representing South Florida’s tri-county area, will be recognized at the 14th annual African-American Achievers Awards ceremony and reception on Thursday, March 30, at 6:15 p.m., at the Broward County Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Boulevard in Ft. Caribbean-American Attorney, Levi G. Williams will be among the five distinguished individuals who will be recognized. He will be awarded in the category of Business and Entrepreneurism.

Levi Williams, Attorney

Business and Entrepreneurism honoree Levi G. Williams of Ft. Lauderdale has greatly enhanced diversity and social justice within our community through his active law practice for over a decade. Additionally, his dedication and ongoing efforts have helped increase the number of minority state attorneys in Florida and improved the quality of education for lower income minority students throughout Broward County.

“These honorees are all special people who make a real difference in our communities,” said JM Family Enterprises Founder and Honorary Chairman Jim Moran. “Through their many efforts, they have touched all of our lives. This event is our way of giving them at least some of the deep thanks and recognition they deserve. Remember their names as you will be seeing and hearing from them many times in the future.”

JMFE and its subsidiary Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET), established the program 14 years ago to recognize community leaders whose outstanding contributions are enriching the quality of life in South Florida. This prestigious recognition highlights the many significant contributions of extraordinary citizens within our community in the areas of the arts, business and entrepreneurship, community service, education, and youth achievement.

In honor of the Achievers, JMFE and SET will donate $20,000 to charity, $5,000 in each adult achiever’s name to the charity or charities of his/her choice. An independent panel of community leaders from Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties, including some former achievers, selected this year’s honorees. Nominations for the awards were requested through an extensive tri-county mailing and public outreach.

The other 2005 African-American Achievers honorees and their categories are:

Tony Thompson — Arts and Culture; C. Ron Allen -Community Service; Benjamin Williams– Education; and Alycia LaFavor — Jerome Edmund Gray Youth Achiever. The Youth Achiever award, named in memory of 1995 African-American Achiever Jerome Edmund Gray, Esq., is awarded by The Jim Moran Foundation, Inc., (http://www.jimmoranfoundation.org/) with funding provided through The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship at Florida State University (FSU).
