Broward County Small Businesses Urged to to “Get Certified” to Participate in Super Bowl XLIV Opportunities

FT. LAUDERDALE – The Broward County Small Business Development Division is working in conjunction with the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee (SBHC) 2010 to maximize opportunities for local small businesses to participate in the procurement process for Super Bowl XLIV. Scheduled for February 7, 2010, Super Bowl XLVI is expected to have an anticipated $400 million in direct economic benefit to Broward County and its business community.

Through the National Football League (NFL) Emerging Business Program, the SBHC 2010 builds direct links between the NFL and local businesses within the Super Bowl host community. The NFL Emerging Business Program Kickoff Workshop will be held on Friday, March 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Banquet Hall of the City of Miramar Cultural Center/ArtsPark, 2400 Civic Center Place. To RSVP, call 954-602-4521 or email [email protected].

Goods and services typically purchased through the program include tour services, painters, catering, barricades, flooring, carpenters, promotional items, audio visual, and public relations. In order to participate in the NFL Emerging Business Program and gain access to millions of dollars in event-related contracts, local businesses must be certified by Broward’s Small Business Development Division, or another authorized independent third-party certifying agency. The Small Business Development Division urges interested businesses to apply now for its Small Business Enterprise (SBE), or sheltered market, certification on line at www.broward.org/smallbusiness.
