Broward County African-American Research Library and Cultural Center to stage Kwanzaa Celebration Production
FT. LAUDERDALE – Broward County African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, in collaboration with the Holistic Arts Center, will stage a Kwanzaa production Wednesday, December 26 at 6 p.m., in the theater of the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center in Fort Lauderdale.
The production will focus on the principles of Kwanzaa as well as African history, culture and arts.
The event will feature food, craft, vendors, poetry, drama, spoken word, and music and dance performances with influences from Africa, India, Haiti, Jamaica, other nations.
Other sponsors include the City of Lauderhill, City of Lauderdale Lakes, Serius Roots Educational Center, Smaatawai Amun Sebek, Walker Elementary School, the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, Write Side Poets, Jubilee Dance Theatre, BG Ballroom Dancers, Ujima Prophecy Child Care, Kheprera Study Group, Pyramid Bookstore and Commissioner John Billingsley of the City of Lauderdale Lakes.
Kwanzaa is a week-long Pan-African festival, observed December 26-January 1, to honor African-American heritage.
