Beverly Manley, “It’s time to get rid of the secrets”

PEMBROKE PINES – Beverly Manley held the audience spellbound as she spoke to a standing room only crowd at the Broward South Regional Library on June 26, 2008.

The event Co-sponsored by the Consulate General of Jamaica, St. Hugh’s Alumnae Association of South Florida, and the Broward County South Regional BCC Library was featured as part of the Caribbean Heritage month celebration series and was held to celebrate of the release of Manley’s greatly anticipated auto-biography “The Manley Memoirs.”

Dr. Manley, a talented broadcaster, talk show host, gender specialist, political activist, and political scientist, who is most often defined as the wife of former Prime Minister of Jamaica, Michael Manley, gave an inspiring reading from her autobiography.

She detailed events of her childhood, her courtship and marriage to former Prime Minister Michael Manley and discussed where she acquires her strength to succeed. “When have the courage to be authentic, it shapes you and those around you” she stated to an audience who responded with resounding cheers of agreement.
