Band Changes, a thing of the past at Reggae Sunsplash 2006
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Can you imagine attending at a live concert in Jamaica and not have to endure a lull in activities due to a band change, between sets? Well when you attend this year’s staging of the Reggae Sunsplash festival, there will be no time to idle between sets.
The B-Mobile sponsored festival will feature fifty six hours of entertainment, over one hundred and twelve acts who will perform over the four nights and the organizers have vowed to keep the momentum flowing non stop.
Reggae Sunsplash is the pioneer of reggae festivals and this year’s renewal will be celebrated at the spatial, 200-acre Richmond Estate on the outskirts of Ocho Rios St Ann. The sprawling venue will be equipped with two stages, The Sunsplash stage and the amphitheatre.
Charles Campbell, Director of Operations and Producer for Reggae Sunsplash 2006, says patrons will not be affected by the monotony usually associated with local live concerts.
“During the band changes the action will continue on the amphitheatre eliminating the boredom of long band changes. Pauses for band changes are a thing of the past,” Campbell said.
In addition to two stages, more than 15 large screens will be installed at key points in the venue along with “state of the art”, surround sound systems. Sound, lighting and other production features will be the most modern technology ever employed at any event in the country, according to Campbell. “We are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that a world class production, representative of the renowned standard of this Jamaican festival will be unveiled when Reggae Sunplash gets underway on Thursday August 3”, Campbell said.
The new home of this original reggae festival will be able to accommodate over twenty thousand vehicles and patrons are being assured that the Guardsman Group Security personnel will ensure that their vehicles are not tampered with. Undesirables are being warned to stay away from Reggae Sunsplash. “We will act swiftly and decisively against those who are caught trying to sully the untarnished name of Reggae Sunsplash. It is important to the country’s image and we are determined that order will reign at Sunsplash 2006,” Campbell said.
Reggae Sunplash tickets go on sale on June 1st and can be bought at the official web site of the festival, www.reggaesunpslashja.com or at selected locations island wide.
