Bahamas swears in new Prime Minister

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Rt. Hon. Hubert Alexander Ingraham was sworn in as Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas by the Governor General, His Excellency Arthur D. Hanna, at Government House on Friday, May 4, 2007.

Parliamentary Commissioner says election will be fair

Parliamentary Commissioner Errol Bethel has assured Bahamian voters that the May 2, 2007 general election will be fair and free from corruption.

Mr. Bethel told a news conference at the Michael Eldon Centre of the College of the Bahamas on Monday (April 30) that several initiatives are in place, including a ban on cell phones, lap top computers and cameras, to prevent possible vote buy-outs and other fraudulent activity aimed at compromising the secrecy of the ballot.

The Rt. Hon. Hubert Alexander Ingraham won the elections as Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
