Bahamas PM to attend 2008 Annual IMF Boards of Governors/World Bank Group Meetings in Washington, DC

NASSAU, Bahamas – Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham will travel to Washington, DC to take part in the 2008 International Monetary Fund (IMF) Boards of Governors/World Bank Group Meetings.

Mr. Ingraham, in his capacity as Governor of the Fund and the Bank for The Bahamas, will deliver a statement at the Joint Annual Discussion of the Meetings on behalf of the CARICOM Joint Caribbean Group.

The Group consists of Antigua, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Prime Minister will be joined in Washington by State Minister for Finance the Hon. Zhivargo Laing and officials from the Ministry of Finance.

Prime Minister Ingraham will depart Nassau on Saturday, October 11 and return to Nassau on Tuesday, October 14.

Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. Brent Symonette will act as Prime Minister and National Security Minister the Hon. Tommy Turnquest as Minister of Finance during the Prime Minister’s absence.
