AFUWI Launches Caribbean Jazz Matazz 2015

Fundraiser to Aid University of The West Indies (UWI) Students with Tuition Costs

FT. LAUDERDALE – The American Foundation for the University of The West Indies (AFUWI) will present Caribbean Jazz Matazz Sunday, June 14, at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Proceeds will provide scholarships to deserving students to attend UWI at their various campuses throughout the Caribbean.

 

The event will feature Jamaica’s top female Jazz performer, Myrna Hague, who after a well-received performance at last year’s event, is back for another extraordinary encore performance at this year’s event as the headliner.

 

Musician Eugene Grey  will also be back at this year’s Jazz Matzz, along with his band, to accompany he artistes and to serenade the audience with smooth reggae, folk and Soul instrumental selections.

 

A. J. Brown, an internationally acclaimed vocalist and currently lead singer for Third World is a new and exciting addition to this year’s event. A.J will be performing from his repertoire of hits and fan favorites.  

 

Caribbean Jazz Matazz will please the audience with its dynamic blend of smooth jazz, rhythmic calypso and off-beat reggae selections performed by these extraordinarily talented entertainers for a delightful evening.

Patrons who purchase VIP tickets will enjoy a pre-concert reception and an opportunity to meet and greet with the performers, celebrities, UWI officials as well as network with affiliated corporate executives. Guests are urged to purchase tickets early for the added advantage of selecting the best seats in the house. It is anticipated that the event will receive strong support from UWI Alums as well as supporters of higher education in the Caribbean and fans of the performers.
