DAVIE – Miami Dolphins CB Bobby McCain, cheerleaders and Women’s Organizations Members partnered with Susan G. Komen and Living Beyond Breast Cancer to host an evening of yoga with more than 60 breast cancer patients and survivors in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
“This is a phenomenal event hosted by the Dolphins and we’re thrilled for our survivors – people that have been fighting this: some are recent survivors, some are fighting it now and some have been survivors for 20 years – this is a great way to bring them together in the community and show them support,” Susan G. Komen Miami/Fort Lauderdale Executive Director Cathy McCarthy said. “It’s very difficult for a lot of these survivors to do a lot of other activities. Yoga is such a wonderful activity where you get centered mentally and physically. And the comradery – it’s just like being on a team, like the Dolphins team. It’s all about being here with people together who have been through your battle.”
The event took place at Doctors Hospital Training Facility at Nova Southeastern University. Ladies received pink Dolphins Breast Cancer Awareness shirts. The group then performed synchronized yoga poses while listening to relaxing music.
“I’m not a yogi exactly, but I did my best. You see a lot of strong women who have pushed through with perseverance, that have really come very far in life,” McCain said. “This event shows that the NFL cares, it shows that we all care. It’s not just a football game, and it’s not just guys out there playing ball, we care about what happens in the world and what happens to people and that’s what the NFL stands for.”

At the conclusion of the event, ladies received pink drawstring bags filled with Miami Dolphins rally towels and key chains as well as breast cancer awareness buttons, calendars and wristbands. Pink cupcakes from Publix with breast cancer awareness ribbons provided the icing on the cake for the ladies.
