Optometrists Today “Places First” In Trinidad and Tobago

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad – An innovative partnership between the leading Optometric chain and a new social discovery network will enable optical healthcare patients to survey a wide array of eye care and eyewear products and services at the touch of a button.

The Trinidad and Tobago-based chain, Optometrists Today (OT), has teamed up with F1RST – one of the Caribbean’s newest IT and social innovation projects which uses cutting-edge technology and global resources to connect people with the experiences that most resonate with them.

Working with teams of brand experts, engineers, web developers and designers in Trinidad, North America and as far afield as Indonesia, F1RST.com launched earlier this year at a star-studded event sponsored by Optometrists Today and attended by Trinidad and Tobago Sports Ambassador and former West Indies cricket captain Daren Ganga.

“Amidst an evolving technological landscape for global healthcare, Optometrists Today looks toward a future where our patients are able to access a range of professional eye care services, while interacting with the latest eyewear products and designer trends, directly,” said OT’s Executive Director Simon Khan, whose company invited the cricket star to present three high-end sunglasses from the company’s exclusive designer collection – valued at more than TT$3,000 (US$500) each – to winners of the OT sunglass raffle.

F1RST, a company with a vision of transforming Caribbean lives through technology, offers easy access to hundreds of thousands of ratings, reviews and brand experiences. Users are also able to connect with each other through the seamless integration of peer social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram.

Throughout its virtual network, F1RST provides users with rich data on thousands of businesses and destinations throughout the Caribbean via its website and a popular mobile app which is already registering record downloads.

Eesa Mohammed, CEO of F1RST, commented: “By partnering with national leaders of industry and innovation such as Optometrists Today, F1RST ensures that content continues to be rich, informative and widely appealing. We look forward to bringing the latest in optical technology and eyewear trends to the fingertips of our users, and to assist Optometrists Today in providing superior brand interaction and exciting online experiences to patients across the country.”

Khan said that patients and patrons of Optometrists Today can expect more innovative partnerships and promotions throughout the year, as the company continues to expand its reach across the twin-island nation, and positively impacts the communities within which it operates.
