2014 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album Goes To Ziggy Marley

Kingston, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism and Entertainment, the Hon. Dr. Wykeham McNeill, is extending heartfelt congratulations to Ziggy Marley for winning the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for the album Ziggy Marley In Concert at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards today.

“I would like to congratulate Ziggy Marley on this significant achievement. Jamaica is proud that he has won this prestigious award which is testimony to his hard work and dedication over the years,” he said. “His latest victory represents a triumph for the entire nation and by extension brand Jamaica. I am pleased that reggae music continues to have a significant positive impact on the music industry globally and his album has helped to advance reggae music on the international stage. My sincere congratulations to Ziggy on an award well deserved!” the Minister added.

The announcement of the award was made earlier today during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, at Staples Center, Los Angeles in the United States.

The four other albums which vied for the award this year, included – One Love by Beres Hammond; The Messiah by Sizzla; Reggae Connection by Sly and Robbie and The Jam Masters; and Reincarnated: by Snoop Lion. While lauding Ziggy Marley for emerging victorious amidst strong competition, Minister McNeill commended all the nominees for their outstanding work in securing a nomination. “All our nominees have done our country proud and I encourage them to continue to strive for excellence as they represent our industry and our nation at home and abroad.”
