2007 ‘Taste of Barbados’

BARBADOS – Travelers should mark their calendars from Thursday, October 11th through Sunday, October 14th, to get a taste of Barbados as the renown culinary island swings open its kitchen doors once again for a lavish festival which brings out the finest tastemakers and foodies from all over the world.

The “Taste of Barbados” welcomes visitors, local patrons and their golden palettes to a whirlwind
of activities that center around this festive feast. Food demonstrations, wine tasting, rum tours, beach barbecues, chef seminars, sugar plantation tours, and party after party make up this dining extravaganza!

If food is your hobby — or for those who just want to learn a thing or two — what could be a better experiential expedition than to engulf yourself in this ultimate food focused program which takes place on a unique island in the
sunny Caribbean?

Through a partnership with Food & Wine, Sandy Lane hotel will feature LA based celebrity chef Govind Armstrong’s flavorful menu on October 14th.

The 2007 “Taste of Barbados” schedule brings a wide range of festive activities. Safari rum tours, wine tasting, cooking seminars, lunch
cruises, beach parties, the best Bajan barbeques, and a “Where De Sugar Come From” tour and cooking session are amongst the more traditional.

The “Village Doctor Seminar” invites you to experience and learn about the natural herbal remedies that stem from various Caribbean herbs and foods. Many ingredients used in Bajan cooking carry unique medicinal properties. You are invited to explore and find out which ones.

Another interesting offering at this year’s festival invites you to hear about the fascinating truths, myths and legends of some of the most potent Caribbean love potions and world famous sensual foods prepared by several of Barbados most celebrated chefs. The “Aphrodisiac Cooking Session” tempts your senses as tales are told about the effectiveness of Caribbean culinary combinations. Before you leave, you can unwind with a little yoga or sip on a chamomile cocktail.

“Dining by Design” hosted by the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association is another extraordinary highlight to the “Taste of Barbados” program. This
is a unique pairing of designers and chefs to create special dining spaces and cuisine that compliment each other to create an experience that will stimulate all of your senses. Guests can choose the chef and designer of their choice and will receive personalized service during this spectacular event.
