Miami-Dade Schools, Miami Dolphins Foundation and Miami Norland High team to develop a sports medicine magnet program

MIAMI GARDENS – Miami-Dade Schools, the Miami Dolphins Foundation and Miami Norland Senior High School have teamed to develop a sports medicine magnet program, the first of its kind in Miami-Dade County. This pilot program will prepare students for future education and careers in sports medicine, including athletic trainers, personal trainers, nutritionists, EMTs and orthopedic doctors.

This four-year curriculum will include practical skill development for athletic competition and quality educational training for future leaders in the sports medicine field. With funding of $10,000 made possible by AutoNation through CBS EcoMedia’s WellnessAd program, Miami Norland will receive text books in 2015 and new athletic training equipment for a lab that will open during the 2016 school year.

The Miami Dolphins during halftime at their preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday (August 29) recognized the partnership.
