BRADES, Montserrat – Montserrat plays host to a three-day Leeward Islands Cricket Tournament August 7 – 9, 2008 with scheduled matches against Antigua. There will also be a one-day Nagico Insurance sponsored match on Sunday, August 10, at the new multi-purpose ground located in Little Bay.
Montserrat took first innings honors against the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) team in the three-day Leeward Islands Cricket Tournament held three weeks ago. A win against Antigua in this weekend’s three-day series will help Montserrat secure a place in the semi-finals, providing St. Kitts loses valuable points in their match against the USVI.
Montserrat was also victorious in the one-day match against the USVI team held on Sunday, July 20, 2008, scoring 328 for 5 and then bowling out the opposition for a meager 165.
Victory in Sunday’s one-day match will put Montserrat at the top of the standings alongside Antigua, with a game in hand. The team is confident they will win both matches against the top-of-the-table ranked team, Antigua.
