City of Miramar Celebrates Haitian Heritage Month

Haitian Heritage Celebration Hosted By Miramar Mayor Messam, Commissioner Riggs And Consulate General Of The Republic In Haiti In Miami

MIRAMAR – In recognition of Haitian Heritage Month Miramar Mayor, Wayne Messam and Commissioner Darline B. Riggs will jointly host a reception with the Consulate General of the Republic in Haiti in Miami on Monday, May 23, 2016.

The program will feature a special performance, Twoubadou Mania with Kapi of famed Haitian Band Tabou Combo, an art exhibition including the works of David Beaubrun and other artists, an honor guard and many surprises. The celebration will be hosted by actress and former Miss Haiti, Sandra Justice.

“I am pleased to host this event for the second consecutive year with the Office of the Consulate General of the Republic in Haiti in Miami and welcome Commissioner Riggs as a co-host,” said Mayor Messam. “It gives me great pleasure to be a part of this celebration and as the first elected Haitian-American in Miramar and Broward County, the event will hold special meaning for me,” said Commissioner Riggs.
