Caribbean Bar Association Raises Funds For Scholarships; Hurricane Matthew Relief, And Installs New Officers For 2016-2017

SOUTH FLORIDA – The Caribbean Bar Association (“CBA”) held its 20th Annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The theme of the Banquet was “Partnering for Progress.” A portion of the proceeds from the Banquet will be donated to the Hurricane Matthew relief efforts in Haiti through Food for the Poor, Inc.

The Caribbean Bar Association also installed its new executive board, recognized two law student scholarship recipients, and honored Barron Channer, CEO of BACH Real Estate, The Honorable Judge W. Matthew Stevenson (ret.), and Food for the Poor, Inc. for their contributions to the community.

The stirring keynote address, delivered by Angel Aloma, Executive Director of Food for the Poor, Inc., urged the community to give back to those in need, particularly those devastated by Hurricane Matthew in the Caribbean.

The event was attended by judges, attorneys and community leaders from across the state, and featured steel pan music, a performance by Jude Papaloko & Loray Mistik, as well as professional Salsa dancers.

The newly installed Caribbean Bar Association Executive Board members are:

Devona A. Reynolds Perez, President– Franchise Law & Complex Commercial Litigation Attorney at Murray Law, P.A. in Miami, FL.

Niyala A. Harrison, President-Elect– Public and Corporate Finance Attorney at Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP in Miami, FL.

Nikeisha Pryor, Vice President– Commercial Litigation Associate at Broad and Cassel in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Anna-Bo Emmanuel, Treasurer– Staff Attorney at Legal Services of Greater Miami.

Charise Morgan-Joseph, Secretary – Litigation Associate at Ward Damon Posner Pheterson & Bleau in West Palm Beach, FL.

Hillary Creary, Board Member – Partner at Benjamin-Wise Creary, PLLC in Pompano Beach, FL.

Serena Witter, Board Member– Senior Associate at Robert Allen Law in Miami, FL.

Michelle T. Bell, Immediate Past-President– American Express General Counsel’s Organization, in Miami, FL.
