Trinidad and Tobago Working to Make High Tech Tamana InTech Park the Talk of CANTO 2008

THE BAHAMAS – If the country’s strong technology infrastructure, skilled talent and unique geographic location were not enough of a draw for ICT companies, Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) now has one more advantage it wants investors to know: Tamana InTech Park (TIP).

Evolving TecKnologies and Enterprise Development Company Ltd. (e TecK) is promoting the benefits of the Caribbean’s largest technology park to attendees at the 24th Annual Caribbean Association of National Telecommunications Organization (CANTO) Conference, being held this week in the Bahamas.

Located in Wallerfield, east of Piarco International Airport, TIP offers superior networking solutions, state-of-the-art security, recruitment and staffing services and a rich environment that fosters collaboration and innovation. The park has been designed with the preservation and celebration of natural resources in mind. It received the ‘Innovation Award” at the 2006 Caribbean Building Awards and is the first Technology and Industrial Park being built in T&T to spur an economic shift from traditional manufacturing and petrochemical industries to a knowledge-based economy.

“TIP embodies our commitment in Trinidad and Tobago to being a global leader in technology and to creating an environment where ICT companies excel,” explained Khalid Hassanali, President of eTecK, the enterprise development company working in close partnership with the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

During CANTO, eTecK will have a booth and representatives are scheduled to meet with companies seeking expansion in the region. Hassanali and Tara Manick, Manager-ICT of e TecK, will make a presentation to the gathering of attendees titled “Relocate for Success.”

After more than thirty years of success in the petroleum and natural gas sectors, T&T is working to expand and diversify its already stable, booming economy by reaching out to a select number of ambitious nations and companies around the world—those seeking to invest in the next global economic hotspot in the Caribbean.

Bolstered by a strong technology infrastructure and an already substantial base of corporate customers, T&T is poised to become a major ICT hub in the Western Hemisphere. Strategic initiatives such as E-Government, the Fast Forward program and ICT cluster development are the drivers to make T&T the regional leader in ICT Services.

In addition to promoting TIP, eTecK encourages attendees to participate in the first National ICT Business and Innovation Symposium, scheduled for 17-20 November, 2008 in Trinidad and Tobago. The symposium is designed to demonstrate the country’s readiness for investment and to bring awareness to the significant role Information & Communication Technology has in transforming T&T to a knowledge-based economy.
