MIAMI – Philanthropist and founder of Honey Shine Mentoring Program, Tracy Wilson Mourning will host the Program’s first Honey Bug Run/Walk in honor of Women’s History Month on Saturday March 7, 2015, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Women’s Park (10251 W Flagler St., Miami, FL 33172).

As an organization dedicated to the balance of mind, body, and soul in girls and women, Honey Shine Inc.’s 5K will further Mourning’s vision of developing the well-rounded woman. From the name of the park to the month the event is taking place, Mourning looks to continue her program’s celebration and preservation of the enlightenment of women, after its expansion to Howard University this past fall, nationwide.

“Honey Shine’s mission of empowering girls is at the core of everything we do, and with March being Women’s History Month, we couldn’t think of a better time to have our first 5K,” said Mourning. “The location of the event comes as no coincidence, the Women’s Park places an emphasis on the strength and influence of women, and has always welcomed our girls with open arms. We strongly encourage those who are interested in Volunteering with Honey Shine to register for this event as it is a great opportunity for mentorship, engagement and wellness.”

More than 150 “Honey Bugs” are expected to participate in the March run/walk. And with the backing of the 5K’s patrons, including Mourning Family Foundation, JCP Printing and Designs, Baptist Health South Florida, and Miami-Dade County, Mourning looks forward to it being a great success.

Registration for the general public is $35 and for Honey Shine Members is $25. To register and to find more information on the event and Honey Shine Inc., visit www.honeyshine.org.
