Top International Triathletes Head to Nevis for World-Class Event

NEVIS, West Indies – Athletes are ready to take their marks, get set and go to the Caribbean island of Nevis for the first-ever TriStar111 Nevis International Triathlon. A popular event in European locales such as Monaco, Germany, Lyon and Madrid, this is the first time the event will take place in the Caribbean. Held on April 2, 2011, the sporting event, sponsored by The St Kitts & Nevis Triathlon Federation, the Nevis Island Administration and TriStar Sports will host world-class triathletes.

As a warm-up for training participants, the StarMile 2.5 Nevis-St Kitts Cross Channel Swim will be held on March 27.

“We are honored to be one of the select destinations chosen by Star Events for its world-class triathlon and particularly, the first ever to be held in the Caribbean,” said John Hanley, CEO of the Nevis Tourism Authority. “I am confident that our friendly people, breathtaking scenery and the outstanding organization of the event will make it unforgettable.”

Professional athletes from across the globe will gather in Nevis to participate in this world-renowned event. Notable attendees include Chris ‘Macca’ McCormack, two-time Hawaii Ironman Champion, Former World Champion Olivier Marceau, Brazil’s Fernanda Keller, Britain’s Emma- Kate Lidbury and Ian Osborne, along with Wolf Guembel and Ben Greenfield of the United States. St Kitts & Nevis’ own Kim Collins will serve as an event ambassador with France’s Paul Belmondo.

The event offers participants three different distances and is open to both individuals and relay teams:

TriStar111 Distance – 1000m Swim – 100km Bike – 10km Run (individual or relay)
TriStar33.3 Distance – 300m Swim – 30km Bike – 3km Run (individual only)
TriStar11.1 Distance – 0.1km Swim – 10km Bike – 1km Run (individual only)
