Top Female Golfers Converge On Montego Bay, Jamaica For Inaugural MOJO6 Golf Tournament, April 12-16
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – In one week sixteen top-ranked female golfers, will converge on Jamaica’s tourist capital, Montego Bay where they will battle for a US$1 million purse in the first-ever ever Mojo 6™ Raceway Golf™ tournament.
Fresh from her recent victory in last weekend’s Kraft Nabisco Championship, Yani Tseng of Taiwan leads an impressive field in the Mojo 6™ tournament, sanctioned by the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).
Tseng is expected to be strongly challenged by Suzann Petterson of Norway, who finished just one stroke behind at the Nabisco Championship.
American Cristie Kerr and Anna Nordqvist of Sweden are also expected to be among the favorites vying for championship honors on one of Jamaica’s world-class golf courses at Cinnamon Hill. The impressive field of players includes Beatriz Recari , the 22 year old rookie from Spain, fan voted 16th player, as well as 15-year-old American golfing sensation, Mariah Stackhouse. Stackhouse recently won the Georgia Women’s Amateur Championship and is believed to be the youngest player ever to do so in its 80-year history.

These top LPGA players will compete head-to-head at the Mojo 6™ LPGA golf tournament in a new format called Raceway Golf™. Raceway Golf™ allows players to pick their opponents and combines the best elements of traditional play with one-on-one match-ups. Played over two days, all 16 golfers will play in six-hole matches. The top eight from Day One will go on to the Championship on Day Two, competing in a bracket-style, single-elimination, with three match victories crowning the champion.
Activities for the week-long event kick off on Monday, April 12 with a welcome reception. This will be followed by the Pro-Am tournament on April 13 and 14, and culminates with the Mojo6 LPGA golf tournament on Thursday, April 15 and Friday, April 16. The Mojo6 tournament will be broadcast on CBS on May 1 and 2, 2010 from 2:00-3:00 pm each day.
