The Divorce Rate is Falling
By: Dr. Ricketts
PEMBROKE PINES – The slowing economy might be forcing some married people who might have otherwise sought to divorce, to decide to stay together. They are finally realizing that 2 people live cheaper than one can. Furthermore, when two people are in a relationship, if something happens they have backup from the other.
This seems to beg the question – Why did they get married in the first place? Isn’t this what marriage was supposed to promote, especially when children are involved? “In good times and bad…In sickness and in health…?” If they can make decisions to remain together and to share with each other during the bad times, what is it about the good times that make people want to break up their families?
It seems we really have a lot to learn about what “family” and “marriage” is all about. Maybe there are numerous good lessons that we can learn from these hard times.
