St. Kitts & Nevis Association of Florida to mark Federation?s 27th Anniversary of Independence
MIAMI – As Kittitians and Nevisians throughout the State of Florida prepare to observe their Federation’s 27th anniversary as a sovereign nation, on September 19th, members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Association of Florida are finalizing plans to host their 12th Annual Independence Dinner and Ball, on Saturday 18th September.
Under the theme “/Building Our Future, Honoring Service/” focus will be placed on creating a framework for continued success through its programs, a platform from which the association and its members can positively impact the lives of others. Due to the alarming number of catastrophic natural disasters in recent months, the organizing committee was mindful of the need to recognize and honor the immeasurable service and sacrifice made by healthcare workers. The keynote address is also expected to bring awareness to the importance of service, and will be delivered by President and CEO of Baptist Health South Florida and Honorary Consul General to St. Kitts and Nevis, Brian Keeley.
The gala will be informative as well as entertaining with performances from rising pop-reggae star Infamus who has taken the Federation by storm along with veteran singer and deejay Alex Duncan both of St. Kitts and a performance by Verna Grant of Nevis, the newly crowned 2010-2011 Ms. Culturama. The lineup boasts a clothing launch by up and coming designer Jay Weeks of /I Rep SKN/ and the launching of a hat collection by seasoned Kittitian designer Nigel Lewis of /Kielroy Wear/. Scott Guilbert of VON (/Voice of Nevis/) radio fame will serve as the Master of Ceremony and musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Kevy Kev of Soul Sound Entertainment.
The event is sponsored in part by Baptist Health South Florida and Countyline Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Centers. Tickets are available at www.sknaf.org
The Independence Dinner and Ball is the organization’s signature fund-raiser which benefits its Scholarship Fund. Kittitians and Nevisians by parentage or birth and high school students of any nationality currently enrolled or preparing to enroll in a four year college or university within the state of Florida are encouraged to apply. Details are available on our website.
The Independence celebrations will get off to an early start with prayer and worship at the Holy Family Episcopal Church, Miami Gardens on Sunday 12th September and concludes with a family picnic at Tropical Park, Miami on Sunday 19th September.
