South Florida Caribbean American Voters’ Guides are coming Oct 16th!

SOUTH FLORIDA – Not sure who to vote for in the upcoming election? Save The Date!  Your November 2014 South Florida Caribbean American Voters’ Guides will be available on Thursday, Oct. 16th on South Florida Caribbean News, www.sflcn.com!

What’s Your Voter Suppression IQ?

Under the pretext of preventing voter fraud and safeguarding election integrity, unpublicized legalized voter suppression has swept through the country threatening non-Whites, low-income persons, senior citizens, voters with disabilities and students.

Voter suppression laws have legally reduced the number of voting days, requiring picture IDs; and allowed voter registration purges in 12 states see the 2014 Map of Shame.

Legalized voter suppression is one thing.  There are also random voter deceptive practices and intimidation among non-Whites such as:

  1. Non-White voters were threatened with arrest at their polling station if they have unpaid child support or unpaid parking tickets.
  2. Misleading robocalls (automated telephone messages) were sent to African-Americans in Maryland stating that there was no need to go vote because “our goals have been met”.
  3. Flyers in Ohio and Virginia told voters that Republicans vote on the actual Election Day while Democrats vote the day after.
  4. In Philadelphia, men carrying clipboards drove a fleet of sedans with signs that looked like law enforcement insignia near polling stations.

The Tea Party group “True the Vote” and its local affiliates is recruiting a million “poll watchers” to challenge voters in non-White neighborhoods.

What will you do to turn back voter suppression?

The most appropriate response to legalized voter suppression?

Vote before or on Nov.  4th, early voting begins Oct. 20th.

If not now, when?

If not you, who?
