MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – The seventh annual Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am “Annie’s Revenge”, presented by NIKE GOLF teed off on Thursday, November 15 with a capacity field comprising teams from the United States, Canada and Europe vying for top honors.
At the close of play on Day One of the three round tournament, being played on two of Jamaica’s best golf courses Cinnamon Hill and White Witch in Montego Bay, San Jose Country Club of Florida lead the 54-hole event respectively, with a score of 55. Rounding out the top three at White Witch behind leader San Jose Country Club are Blue Hills Country Club from Kansas, who trail by four strokes on 59, and The Champions Club from Florida, one stroke behind on 60.
Over at Cinnamon Hill, Carlisle Country Club with a score of 57 leads their nearest rivals Brent Creek Country Club by one stroke. Steubenville Country Club from Ohio are two strokes behind the leader on 59.
In the professional category, Eddie Gardino of Crans Sur Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland shot a first round 69 to lead the field ahead of Glenn Preciado of Iberostar Paraiso Golf Club of Mexico and Travis Deibert of Commonwealth National #2 who each shot 70 to trail by just one stroke. In the senior pro division, Doad Edwards from Ohio State GC scored 73 to lead Chris Bitticks of Poppy Ridge #1 by three strokes.
The three round event being played using the one best ball net format, continues on Friday, November 16, culminating with the championship round on Saturday, November 17, 2012.
Professionals will be competing for an increased $30,000 cash prize, courtesy of Iberostar, while amateurs will vie for prizes donated by sponsors American Airlines, NIKE GOLF, Iberostar Grand Rose Hall and Jamaica Tours for the exciting hole contests.
