Renowned US Professor working for Bermuda

BERMUDA – Columbia University Professor Ronald Mincy, who is authoring a report on Bermuda’s young black males, was prominently featured last week in the widely watched CNN documentary “Black in America”.

The most recent installment, which premiered Thursday, included Prof. Mincy discussing Black males and their roles in the family. The two-hour program was watched by an average 2.6 million people, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Architect of Government’s “Big Conversation” Rolfe Commissiong said: “The fact that CNN, probably the world’s most resourceful TV news outlet, would turn to Prof. Mincy for expertise on Black males is the best possible endorsement of our decision. Bermuda is fortunate to have secured the assistance of an academic of Prof. Mincy’s renown. We should all look forward to his finished product. It will help make our community stronger.”
