FT. LAUDERDALE – With only a few days left, South Florida is experiencing a severe case of ‘Reggae Symphony fever’ as procrastinators scramble to secure last-minute tickets for the prestigious event featuring Reggae Ambassador, Freddie McGregor, the Queen of Reggae, Marcia Griffiths and veteran Reggae singer/songwriter Bob Andy. The trio will be the featured performers at the second staging of Reggae Symphony, on Sunday, March 29, 7:00 pm at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
On Monday, March 23 scores of fans turned up at the County Line Chiropractic main office hoping to win tickets to the event as well as meet Freddie McGregor and Marcia Griffiths. WAVS Radio personalities Pat Montague, Yvette Marshall, Norman Lawrence, Sharon Blackwood and C-Roy kept the crowd entertained, broadcasting live, as the artists posed for photos, signed autographs and distributed copies of their latest CDs to patrons who waited patiently in line for over an hour.
A pleased McGregor assured everyone that this year’s show will “blow you out of your seat, so come prepared to experience something out of this world.” According to McGregor, rehearsals have been going on for the last week and all the musicians and singers were overly excited about the upcoming show.
Marcia Griffiths stated that she was ‘honored to be a part of this event, especially since it was taking Reggae to a higher level. Working with Bob (Andy) and Freddie is always a pleasure, as there is a lot of history between us.” Many are excited about seeing Marcia Griffiths and Bob Andy together on stage, as they have a series of hits together, most notably their rendition of “Young, Gifted and Black” which went to number 5 in the UK in 1970.
Patrons can expect a lot of surprises, including a special cash giveaway which will make the winner leaving richer and exceedingly happy that they attended the show. “We are pulling out all the stops to make this years event even more thrilling,” stated Dr. Robert Hochstein, CEO and founder of County Line Chiropractic Centers. “We are grateful to the community for their support and understand the vital role entertainment and the arts play in the Caribbean Community.
