Reggae Stars to shine for VP Records 26th Anniversary celebrations in Miami

A number of top reggae stars will shine brightly on stage at VP Records 26th Anniversary Concert scheduled for Sunday, May 29 – Memorial Week-end at Bayfront Park, Downtown Miami.

Leading this stellar line-up is veteran reggae singer Freddie McGregor, Sizzla, Luciano and I-Wayne. They will be joined by the King of the Dancehall Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Elephant Man, Capelton, DJ Maka Diamond (The only female artist scheduled) Assasin and lone soca sensation Edwin Yearwood. There will also be a few unadvertised surprise artist making guest appearance on the show.

With the increasing popularity and mainstream crossover of Jamaican music, this event will showcase a broad spectrum of VP’s music catalog from early rock steady grooves, rocking reggae jams and today’s up-tempo dancehall beats. The concert will definitely attract a wide section of South Florida’s multi-ethnic population as well as the thousands of visitors in town for the Memorial Weekend Holiday.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our 26th anniversary with our artists at this spectacular event at Bayfront Park,” said Randy Chin, CEO of VP Records. “This special concert will have all the fun, electricity and excitement of reggae and its ‘cousin’ dancehall, and it is sure to be as exciting as last year’s show.”

Vendors representing the Caribbean will be on hand selling tasty tropical delights such as Jerk Chicken, Peppa Shrimp, Escoveitch Fish along with exotic fruit juices, beer and sodas. Beautiful handmade crafts, jewelry, clothing and artifacts from various Caribbean islands will also be on sale.

Tickets are $45 at present and can be purchased at all TicketMaster outlets and selected Caribbean stores or online at www.ticketmaster.com.

The VP Records 26th Anniversary Concert is being produced by Jammins Productions, Rockers Island and Jamaica Awareness. The producers urge all patrons to get tickets early as the response to the show has been very encouraging and it is anticipated that there will be a huge turnout for the Memorial holiday weekend.
