Reggae Month 2009 to feature regional symposia across Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica – In-keeping with the observance of national Reggae Month and the anniversary of the birth of reggae icon, the Honourable Robert (Bob) Nesta Marley O.M, the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) will be hosting a series of regional symposia across the island from February 3-6 under the theme “Children Get your Culture”.
The sessions kick off on Tuesday, February 3 at the Colonel Cove in St. Thomas with a number of presenters including Jaqueline Stewart (Bob Marley Foundation), broadcaster Bob Clarke and other presenters,who will focus on the role of culture and its impact on the life and work of Bob Marley.
Other venues include the Port Maria Civic Centre, St. Mary on February 4, Sam Sharpe Square, St. James on February 5 and Mandeville Park, Manchester on February 6.
Attendees will also be able to view a special screening of a 100 minute documentary on the legend and witness the annual Bob Marley Song Arrangement Competition for high school students in each region. All sessions begin at 10am and the public is invited.
