Reggae Ambassadors – Third World releases their new album Black, Gold, and Green
Miami – Seven-time Grammy nominated reggae band Third World will be performing in South Florida this week, on the heels of the release of their album Black, Gold, and Green.
This legendary band, bringing forth a plethora of hits including 96 Degrees in the Shade, Now That We found Love, Jah Glory, Reggae Ambassador to name a few, and with their 30 years-and-counting history, they are one of reggae’s original ambassadors in the truest sense. Said to have the best voice to hail from the musical island of Jamaica, lead singer, Bunny Rugs, along with the diverse musical talent of the group, give Third World their signature sound and maintaining their widespread international appeal.
With 16 CDs in their catalog to date, the newest album, Black, Gold, and Green, released by Shanachie in 2005, is currently charting at number three on New York’s reggae chart and has reached Jamaica’s top ten chart. Conscious and cultural, Black, Gold, and Green is said to be one of Third World’s best recent recordings. With this latest release, the Reggae Super-group gives us a heartfelt tribute to Jamaica, touching all bases from roots to dancehall. The album features artists including another reggae legend, Beres Hammond, popular dancehall artist, Wayne Marshall and Blu Fox.
With three original band members including lead singer, Bunny Rugs, bass player, Richard Daley, and musical director, guitarist and cello player, Stephen “Cat” Coore teamed with the newer energies of now eight year Third World veterans, keyboard player, Herbie Harris and drummer, Tony “Ruption” Williams, the showmanship of Third World remains at the highest level. Prior to joining Third World, Harris played in Maxi Priest’s band and Williams drummed for both Jimmy Cliff and Maxi Priest.
Live Performance At South Florida Family Reggae Festival
The 2005 South Florida Family Reggae Festival is set to take place this Sunday, December 4th, at the Coconut Grove Expo Center at 2700 S. Bayshore Drive in Miami. Legendary, Third World is scheduled to perform.
The annual festival is a FREE one-day interactive musical event celebrating the wide cross-cultural and multi-generational appeal of the Caribbean’s greatest export: Reggae Music.
