Washington, D.C. – After witnessing the inauguration of President Barack Obama, Florida Democratic Party Chair Karen Thurman released the following statement:
“With our nation facing great challenges, today every American is united in hope for our future as we witness the historic swearing-in of President Barack Obama.
“President Obama knows that the greatness of our country stems directly from its citizens. His call today for shared sacrifice and unity during these tough times is exactly what we need to begin renewing the American dream and getting our nation back on track.
“While we celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. yesterday, watching the historic inauguration of our nation’s first African-American president showed just how far we have come in fulfilling Dr. King’s dream.
