Party with a purpose: Lynne Mitchell Foundation presents ‘Night Under The Stars’ gala at Miami’s Jungle Island
MIAMI – The Lynne Mitchell Foundation, which began last year to honor the memory of a beloved Miramar resident of the same name, is hosting their “Night Under the Stars’ Gala at Jungle Island in Miami on October 26, 2013. The event will raise funds for the educational needs of underprivileged children in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.
Join the Lynne Mitchell Foundation for an evening of philanthropic fun. Funds raised will directly benefit the children of Seaview Primary School in Southfield, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.
The foundation’s goal is to renovate the 53-year-old one room schoolhouse for children in grades 1-6 into a new facility with real classrooms, a computer lab, library, and cafeteria.
To date, the foundation has implemented transportation programs and school lunch programs for the children. They also recently sent 180 backpacks full of school supplies to Seaview and awarded $2,500 scholarships each to two promising students so they may attend high school in the fall. The foundation also shipped and installed an outdoor playground for the students attending Seaview Infant School.
“Lynne Mitchell dedicated her life to making a positive difference in other people’s lives,” says Marlene Gordon, president of the Lynne Mitchell Foundation. “We hope the ‘Night Under the Stars’ gala will help continue her legacy of showing love to the children in this very poor and rural community in Jamaica and significantly help improve their lives and future potential by providing them a better education.”
The cocktail reception begins at 8:00 PM with hors d’oeuvres, spectacular featured cocktails sponsored by BACARDI®, fabulous raffle and auction items, and continues with dinner and dancing into the evening.

Lynne Mitchell Foundation
The Lynne Mitchell Foundation was created in 2012 by president Marlene Gordon to honor the memory of her mother, Lynne Mitchell and to continue her legacy of “growing love . . . one act at a time.”
The foundation focuses on underprivileged children in the rural community on the island of Jamaica where Mitchell was born and raised.
The specific focus of the foundation is on Seaview Primary school with the aim of showing these children what love is and changing their lives in a positive and meaningful way.
The foundation serves to raise funds for programs including scholarships, transportation, school lunches and building renovations to benefit the students of Seaview Primary School.
