Oliver Samuels to be honored in London

Kingston, Jamaica – Veteran Jamaican actor/comedian Oliver Samuels will be honored on Wednesday, November 9 in recognition of his 35 years as an entertainer.

Mr. Samuels, who is regarded as one of the Caribbean’s finest comedians and actors, is well known not only to the Jamaican community but also to a wider Caribbean and British audience in the United Kingdom from his regular stage performances and his appearances on television and radio there.

The special reception for Mr. Samuels is being organized by the Jamaica National Building Society and will be held at the Jamaican High Commission. High Commissioner, Gail Mathurin, renowned choreographer Jackie Guy and the London-based Blue Mountain Theatre group will be among those paying tribute to the entertainer.

Mr. Samuels is currently playing ‘Mr. Incredible’ on tour in the U.K. with the Blue Mountain Theatre’s production of the play Sting – The Greatest Show on Earth.

Sting is billed as a theatrical uprising, which looks at a DJ clash to crown a new ‘King of Dancehall’ at the Jamaican music festival of the same name. The play also features Charles Tomlin, Lavern Archer, Christopher Daley, Ricky Rowe, Terri Salmon, Oliver Miller and Elizabeth Crown James.
