OAS to Provide Technical Assistance for Biofuels Development in Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Organization of American States (OAS), through its Department for Sustainable Development, will launch this Wednesday, May 19, the “Technical Assistance for Biofuels Development and Policy Support in Jamaica” project, which aims to support the development and implementation of Jamaica’s biofuels policy and programs, establish a strong legal and regulatory framework for a vibrant liquid biofuels industry, facilitate the sharing of perspectives among the respective stakeholders and advise on appropriate technologies.
The launching of the project will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 local time (15:00 to 16:30 GMT) at the Banquet Hall of the Office of the Prime Minister of Jamaica in Jamaica House at 1 Devon Road in Kingston. At the conclusion of the event, the press will have access to interview Francisco Burgos, Specialist in Energy and Sustainable Development of the OAS; James Robertson, Jamaica’s Minister of Energy and Mining; Hillary Alexander, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Jamaica; and David Walden, team coordinator from Winrock International.
