NEW YORK – Dahved Levy, New York’s number one Caribbean radio announcer was recently honored by the speaker of the New York City Council, Christine Quinn for unparalleled accomplishments in radio at the recently held Caribbean Night Awards Reception at Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York.
The award segment was designed by Dahved to honor those in our community who have excelled in their various fields; from medicine to music—scheduled to precede the Caribbean Fever Music Festival in the Arena later that evening.
“We wanted to showcase excellence wherever it exists,” said Dahved. A young deejay like Young Chow can look across the room and see a Dr. Scantlebury—a Caribbean national; the first African-American female transplantation surgeon. Both can be proud that the Caribbean is being represented across the Diaspora and worldwide at the highest levels. This represents the philosophy of our radio program as well, as we seek to entertain, educate and inform.”
His recognition came as a surprise. In presenting the proclamation Speaker Quinn cited Levy’s numerous accomplishments throughout his career lauding him for promoting the Caribbean culture in the, ‘city of diversity’–New York.
Levy can be heard on the airwaves of 107.5FM WBLS weekly with his very popular, Caribbean Fever; a program which has been consistently rated number one by Arbitron for almost two decades in the New York metro market, (at one point for 15 consecutive rating periods).

Sitting on top of the New York radio ratings for as long as Dahved Levy has been is the result of hard work, expansive thinking, an approach of inclusivity, and a program structured with heavy infusions of information and music from across the Caribbean. It’s been staying active, current, and well-informed and indicates the highest level of commitment and dedication to his listeners. He is passionate about the Caribbean culture. Dahved was born Barbados but he is as comfortable across the entire region as he is at home. He embraces and espouses each [country’s] ‘unique’ profile with [a kind of] refreshing comfort, intimate knowledge and a decidedly expressed freedom to experience it all. His goal is to inspire his listeners to do the same.
