National Black Chamber of Commerce Convenes in Hollywood, FL

2015 Conference Builds Next Generation Of Innovators and Entrepreneurs With Pass The Torch Competition

 Washington, DC  – The National Black Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) hosts it 23rd Annual Conference in Hollywood, Fl August 5-8 at the Hilton Diplomat Resort & Spa (3555 S. Ocean Drive, Hollywood, FL 33019). This year’s theme, “The Family Business”, encompasses the unity of entrepreneurs and celebrates their legacies. NBCC delves into the most important topics for entrepreneurs and community co-founder of NBCC Kay Debow remarks “This is the most comprehensive and informative business conference in the nation.”

The official series of events will open with the Chairman’s Welcome Reception in the South Palm Court.  Charles Payne of Fox Business Network introduces us to several family businesses that comprise of parents, siblings and wives. Meet Everett Hall, The Biagas Family, Arnold Baker and his wife Tracee Dundas and John and Kara Boyd, and learn about their extraordinary businesses and family of leaders.

NBCC’s The Family Business tackles the importance of education and keeping Historic Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) viable, dealing with “Family Secrets”—where they explore criminalization and getting ex-offenders back on track, a procurement roundtable, capital access, census data as marketing tools and international trade; all which support the structure strengthening of our entrepreneurial families.

Pass The Torch Young Entrepreneurs Business Pitch Competition and mentorship panel is the breakout session that has created a buzz among emerging entrepreneurs. Pass the Torch gives aspiring business owners, ages 17-27, the opportunity to pitch business ideas, products, and new technology. Finalists will have 8 minutes to pitch their business to the distinguished panel of executives and celebrity judges which include actor, activist, and entrepreneur Lamman Rucker, V.P. and co-founder of FUBU and CEO of FUBU-TV J. Alexander Martin and Slip-N-Slide Records CEO Ted Lucas. All of the finalists will walk away with the feedback and direction necessary to take their ideas and products to the next level.  The winners will receive cash prizes and a round trip ticket sponsored by Southwest Airlines.

NBCCThe Honorable Judge Glenda Hatchet, founding partner of the Hatchet Firm, co-hosts the Women’s Afternoon Tea with Dr. Artist, President of Florida Memorial University, along with actress, photographer and producer, Chenoa Maxwell. The influential trio is set to discuss issues facing women entrepreneurs in their respective fields. In its third year of operation, NBCC Fashion House presents “Fashion Means Business” Charity Celebrity Runway Show hosted by actress Brely Evans, which supports the creative leaders in fashion.

Each morning will begin with a fitness and nutrition session sponsored by the Women Arena Football League (WAFL) where the ladies will share tips on best eating an exercises practices for staying healthy and fit.  NBCC is proud to join Keymanna Management Talent and Event Management Firm as they support New York Times bestselling author Carl Weber’s film “The Man in 3B” directed by Trey Haley, with a VIP screening of the film. Confirmed cast members to attend include Lamman RuckerChristian Keyes, and Brely Evans. This event is open to NBCC registrants only.
