Miramar Cultural Center | ArtsPark Hosts Kick-off Reception for Legacy of Marcus Garvey Exhibition and Black History Month Celebration
MIRAMAR – The Vice Mayor of the City of Miramar, Alexandra Davis, and The Miramar Cultural Center | ArtsPark will host a reception to kick off the Legacy of Marcus Garvey Exhibition in Ansin Family Art Gallery on Friday, February 7 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
On exhibit for the month of February, the exhibition celebrates Garvey’s lifelong contributions. The reception also will serve as the kick-off event for the free Black History Month Celebratory Event on Saturday, February 8.
During the reception, Miramar Vice Mayor Alexandra Davis will honor the following people for their contributions to the arts: Rodney Baltimore, Hot 105 – Cox Radio; Eddy Edwards, Riddims Marketing, Inc.; Neil Hall, The Urban Collective; Babacar M’bow, Multitudes Contemporary Art Gallery; Jimmy Moise, Le P’ti Club; and Jacqueline Shaw, Sunshine Theater.
“The City of Miramar applauds these individuals for their cultural contributions to South Florida,” said Davis. “Music, art and theater enrich our lives and reflect our history as well as entertain and educate. We thank them for helping to ensure that sure everyone in our community has a chance to experience the arts.”
