NEW YORK – A leading US Investment publication-‘Oppenheimer’ has commended Prime Minister Bruce Golding on the bold initiatives he has taken to fight crime in Jamaica.
In its June 7 publication, under the heading Emerging Markets Commentary. Jamaica at a Crossroads’ by Carl Ross, Managing Director-Investments, the writer noted that the offensive against drug lords and gangs should be ‘viewed as an extraordinary bold move by a government that has finally committed itself to making deep structural changes’. Carl Ross is no stranger to Jamaica. He has been on several local radio programmes over the years and has also been interviewed by local newspapers.
Ross’ article noted that no previous government in Jamaica and very few anywhere have taken the political risk that Golding has now chosen. ‘He is willing to be a one-term Prime Minister if he can get his country on the right track.’
