Jamaica’s Prime Minister to visit South Florida
DAVIE – Jamaica’s Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson-Miller will be the guest speaker at a community forum to be held on Friday, June 23, 6 pm, at the Steele Auditorium, Nova Southeastern University in Davie.
The Prime Minister, who is on her first official visit since taking office in March, will address the community on developments in the Jamaican economy and will participate in several activities in the area.
South Florida is home to more than 300,000 Jamaican nationals in the tri-county area of Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, and is considered the fastest growing region of Jamaicans compared to any in the Diaspora.
According to recent Census studies Jamaicans make up the largest foreign born group in Broward County, one of the fastest growing counties in the USA.
