Jamaica’s NCB is Bank of the Year

KINGSTON, Jamaica – National Commercial Bank Jamaica Ltd. (NCB) was awarded the Bank of the Year 2009 from the highly prestigious Banker Awards. The aim of the awards programme is to promote industry wide excellence in the global banking community where continued growth and strength are demonstrated. The Banker Awards are considered as the Global Banking Oscars.

The recognition of being named ‘Bank of the Year 2009’ is a testament to the strong management and prudent risk approach that is made by an institution in its respective country.

Patrick Hylton, Group Managing Director was elated that NCB received such an award. He stated, “this is a testimony to our strong performance. NCB continues to maintain its position of being Jamaica’s premier financial institution and our successes are attributable to the resilient team of employees who continue to perform based on the organization’s strategic brand pillars of innovation, expertise and strength.”

“Our business model proved effective as greater flexibility was required based on proactive environmental assessment during this challenging period. Mindful of these difficulties our focus has been on strongly serving our customers and supporting them during the time when it matters most,” Mr. Hylton added.

The Banker’s, Bank of the Year Award is the world’s longest running international banking title. Banks are assessed primarily on key growth and performance measures, customer initiatives and shareholders’ return. In addition to the title of Bank of the Year NCB was also recoginized for being in the Top 25 Caricom Banks.
