Jamaica’s former First Lady to speak at Pan African Bookfest and Cultural Conference

Dr. Beverley Manley, former first lady of Jamaica will be a guest speaker at the third annual Pan African Bookfest and Cultural Conference which opens in Broward County on April 18th.

The co-producer and co-host of a Jamaican radio show the “Breakfast Club,” Dr. Manley is a trailblazer for discussing issues dealing with race and gender, politics and economics. The show which has been broadcast for thirteen years commands an audience that includes the top decisions-makers in the country.

Dr. Manley has served as Jamaica’s representative to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. She is a consultant on third world developmental and communications issues, and has written numerous papers on third world political, social and economic issues.

Dr. Manley will speak on Tuesday, April 26, 6pm-8pm, at the Broward Community College (BCC) Central Campus, located at 3501 SW Davie Road.
