KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Dr. Ronald Robinson, will visit the Northeast United States from April 17 to 26, where he will meet with and have discussions with Jamaican nationals and Diaspora groups.
During the nine-day visit, Dr. Robinson, who has portfolio responsibility for the Diaspora, will visit communities in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
The four states account for a combined 600,000 Jamaicans, more than half the total number of nationals residing in the United States, and are considered pivotal to the Diaspora movement.
Dr. Robinson will hear from different groups including the youth, through a series of town hall fora and business meetings in such key communities as Brooklyn, Bronx, and Manhattan in New York; Newark and East Orange in New Jersey; and Hartford, Connecticut; and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.
Philadelphia is expected to provide a fitting finale to the tour when the Minister addresses the contingent of visiting student athletes and patrons from Jamaica at the Penn Relays awards presentation ceremony on Saturday, April 25.

Minister Robinson’s tour is being co-ordinated by the Consulate General of Jamaica in New York with the support of the Jamaica Diaspora Advisory Board North East United States; Jamaica Organisation of New Jersey (JON-J), and Jamaica Impact (JAMPACT), Inc.
