Jamaica’s Consul General invites Diaspora Nominations for Honour Roll – Jamaica Independence 2014 celebration

SOUTH FLORIDA  – As part of the commemoration of Jamaica’s 52nd Anniversary of Independence, Consul General to Miami, Franz Hall, is inviting nominations for persons to be inscribed on the Honour Roll of Jamaicans in the Southern United States of America.

The eighth (8th) Annual Community Awards Ceremony will he held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, during the Independence Gala observing Jamaica’s 52nd Anniversary of Independence to be held at the Signature Grand in Davie, Florida.  The Ball is a joint effort with the Jamaica United Relief Association (JURA).

The call for nominations for the Honour Roll of Jamaicans continues the tradition of recognizing Jamaicans in the Diaspora who have positively impacted their community. “It is important that we continue to recognize the contribution of Jamaicans to the development of their adopted country”, said Consul General Hall.

Nominations are categorized in the following fields – Vanguard (landmark pioneers and icons) and Community Luminary (contemporary service). Forms are available on the website for the Consulate General at www.jamaicacgmiami.org or can be requested by email at [email protected]; or by telephone at 305-374-8431.  The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 30.

The areas for selection include education, religious leadership, community development, social services and philanthropy, business and entrepreneurship, healthcare, the arts, entertainment, media, sports, and law and justice.
