Jamaicans.com wins “Top Jamaican” website award

Once again Jamaicans.com has been chosen as the most popular website for ALL things Jamaican on the World Wide Web. Earlier this year, the surfers’ choice team tabulated votes cast by cyber surfers in order to choose the Top 5 Jamaican sites. This is the fourth time in five years they have taken the title since first sweeping the votes in the year 2000.

Jamaicans.com was founded in 1995 by Jamaican, Xavier Murphy. Since then it has grown from a membership base of under 100 to having just under 15, 500 registered users. “I am ecstatic and honored that we have won this award again. We owe it to the many internet users who voted for us and continue to support the online community at Jamaicans.com,” states Xavier.

Jamaicans.com provides a wealth of information on the travel and vacation opportunities for visitors to the island, immigration FAQ’s, specialized channels, free classified ad space, overseas Jamaican city guides, and free e-mail as well as monthly articles related to and describing the rich, vibrant culture of Jamaica and its people.

At the heart of the website is a bulletin board which has become the meeting place of Jamaicans and lovers of Jamaica from all over the world. Here on any given day you can find intriguing and intense discussions on a diversity of topics which range from the political atmosphere in Jamaica to Jamaican cooking, religion, love and tips on where to go and how to get there or a forum for those who just need to talk. In addition there are lively discussions with featured guests such as Oliver Samuels, The Right Honorable Louise Bennett Coverly and Anthony Winkler just to name a few.

The success of Jamaicans.com can be attributed to the determination of its founder and moderating of staff to ensure that it remains an informative, fun, clean place to learn about Jamaica and to interact with others in a respectful setting.

With over a million page views/month www.Jamaicans.com has become a mainstay of the online community with its goal being to perpetuate a world of friendships and dialogue through this shared love for Jamaica, and to actively participate in productive ways towards a better Jamaica.
