Jamaican Olympian receives wheels for all seasons from Key Motors

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Key Motors honoured Melaine Walker on Thursday October 23, at a special ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

The Olympian was presented a Hyundai Sante Fe SUV, a move reminiscent of 1996 when a similar gesture was made to then 400m hurdle Champion and Olympic record holder Deon Hemmings.

Desmond Panton, Managing Director of Key Motors explained that, “the presentation to Ms. Walker was an expression of thanks for her outstanding performance in the Olympics.” He was quick to point out that “this is also the Key Motors way of letting the youth of our society understand that rewards are attained through diligence, perseverance and achievement of goals.”

Walker, whose love affair with track and field first began at age four, blossomed early in Jamaica’s highly successful track and field program. Her dedication resulted in her achieving a phenomenal 52.64 seconds and the Gold medal for the 400m hurdles at the 2008 Beijing Olympic, breaking the mark of 52.82 set by Jamaica’s Deon Hemmings in 1996.
