Jamaican Diaspora – New Years Message
SOUTH FLORIDA – New Years Message – 2012 to the Jamaican Diaspora – Southern USA from Dr. Susan Lycett Davis Advisory Board Representative.
Fellow Jamaicans,
My team and I – Pamela M. Gordon, Esq. and George S. Pedlar, P.A. – would like to wish you a blessed and prosperous new year.
It is going to be an exciting year and we are prepared to meet and tackle the challenges that no doubt will be encountered. As a team we pledge that:
“Before God and all mankind, we pledge the love and loyalty of our hearts, the wisdom and courage of our minds, the strength and vigour of our bodies in the service of our fellow citizens; We promise to stand up for Justice, Brotherhood and Peace, to work diligently and creatively, to think generously and honestly, so that Jamaica may, under God, increase in beauty, fellowship and prosperity, and play her part in advancing the welfare of the whole human race”.
We extend heartiest congratulations to the Prime Minister designate and her team, and look forward to continuing the dialogue and collaborative efforts, to ensure that Jamaicans at home and abroad, whatever their station in life, will become – one people, one nation, proud to call our Island….home! We will also be embarking on organizing various events to commemorate this Jamaica’s 50th Year of Independence. This Golden Independence Anniversary year is going to be a memorable one, not just for Jamaicans at home, but also for those of us in the diaspora.
I encourage all here in the Southern USA region to help us to help you – keep us informed of your plans and concerns. We as your Diaspora Team will need your support as we seek to; mobilize the Jamaican Diaspora by encouraging mutual patronage of services, collaborative efforts, community and cultural initiatives.
My Jamaican Family – we are all in this together! We’ll be calling on you for assistance and support….in the meantime ‘Walk Good and God bless’!
Susan Lycett Davis (Dr. Sue)
